Lindsey Marie Wood
Lindsey Marie Wood was one of God’s purest creations. She was born to Ricky and Kathy Wood in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 22, 1986. She lived an extraordinary life for 35 years and went to her heavenly home on September 5, 2021. Lindsey lived her early years with her parents and brother, Taylor, in Longview, Texas, and received her education there. She and her mother moved to Louisiana in 2007 to help with ailing family members. While living in Bastrop, Lindsey would make many friends. She lived there until 2013 when she and her mother relocated to Haile, Louisiana. Lindsey was a most unique creature. In her brief 35 years, she endured many illnesses and much pain. She was diagnosed with Autism in the 8th grade but successfully navigated her education to graduation.
During her early adulthood she had to face many illnesses. She was diagnosed with lots of rare and genetic diseases including Mitochondrial disease, gastroparesis, myasthenia gravis, MED13L, and Fahrs. Her doctors saw her as medically complex. She had a wonderful team of doctors at Ochsner hospital in New Orleans. Some admitted they did not know how to treat all of her illnesses. She was known to console her own doctors when they expressed frustration over not knowing how to treat her.
Despite all the illnesses and pain, Lindsey was one of the most positive people one would ever meet. She had an unshakeable faith in God and completely put her faith in Him. She was compassionate and loved deeply. Her love extended to her special pet, Burreaux.
She never spoke an unkind word about anyone and was always ready to lift another up when it was needed. Anyone who met Lindsey immediately fell in love with her and quickly realized she was a most special person. Lindsey’s spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends. The manner in which she lived her life, although full of pain and many questions, never stopped her from finding joy in the little things. Those who knew her loved her and will forever hold her memory close.
